My First Performance

Whoaa.

It's been a while since I write a post in here. Anyway, this is just a quickie about a dinner that I joined last month.

*
On 7th March, one person has approached and asked me whether I wanted to perform or not on 31st of March aka Hornbill Night. I was quite doubtful during that time whether to accept or not. He tried to coax me for about a week. He said that the band wanted to perform one of the Zee Avi's song. I think and think and think. (Well, I was one of the crew for that dinner, remember.)

After I did some thinking, I agreed and on 14th, I started my jamming session with them. Without Rawiey's knowledge, I sneaked out every Friday and Saturday to jam with them. It's my first time to perform with a band and I'm not used to it. Often I went to karaoke center just to sing my lungs out. :D

Lemme introduce to you to the person who succeeded in persuading me to join the band. His name is Syah. He said that my appearance during the performance will be a surprise to all. Indeed. Well, of course I told my boyfie that I was performing with a band. Heeeee..

At first, we were practicing Kantoi and they were too focusing on the KTHO dinner performance. They said I hit the key correctly. I assumed that's a good start for me, as a newbies. A week after that, we practice Kantoi and Mi Kolok Sigek. Nevertheless, it was quite hard for Fakh to arrange both songs.

A week before the event started, there were a change in songs and music arrangement. They wanted to combine Mi Kolok Sigek and A Thousand Years.

Homaii..
A Thousand Years!
They knew I can't hit the high note.
But I tried my best.
And I did it (maybe) .

The performance went smoothly even though there were one part I got in wrongly. After the event, we performed another round of Kantoi.
Thanks to them for inviting me to sing a song from my favourite artist, Zee Avi.
A dream came true.

L-R : Aten, Ariff, me, Al, Pjol, Fakh and Syah

It was fun!
Oh yea. I almost forgot. The band was called Inseneur.

Z : I'd been long to sing Zee Avi's song though.

Hornbill Night 2012

On 24th of March, Perwakilan Mahasiswa Sarawak (MASSA) had organize a dinner called Hornbill Night. Last year, this dinner was combined with Perwakilan Mahasiswa Sabah (PERMAS) and called Borneo Night. This year, the Borneo has separated. Don't get me wrong, seperated in term of Sabah (PERMAS) and Sarawak (MASSA) clubs in UTM. I bought a dress just for this event though. I don't want to make a comparison between these 2 dinners but if I make one, last year was more happening because of the combinations.

Last year, Mapius was the director. And this year, Fira was the director.

The MPMs.

Anyway, I like the effort on this year dinner because they manage to change the event from Banquet Hall to DSI ad-hocly. And 3 ministers from Sarawak were coming for this event. Even though Sarawak's CM and Datuk Fadhillah were sending their representatives, but the MYR10k cheque was a surprised to all.

Speech from our beloved Deputy Vice Chancellor Datuk T.

The YB.

The gimmick.

I wore my dress that night but that didn't stop me to take lotsa photos in front of the guests. Besides, a few days before the event started, one of the protocol unit asked me to be one of the informal emcee. I refused to be one of the emcee because I came to eat and I can't left my friends by themselves at the table.
:D

From UTM to YB
From YB to YDP Massa, Mapius. A surprised MYR 10k checque.
SaturdayNSunday without Rawiey.

The formal event ended at 11PM but the show still went on. The informal event held after that. Lucky draws and king and queen of the night were some of the activities held after the formal event has ended.

Before Hornbill Night ended, we poco-poco til almost midnight. I danced. Damn. It's been a long time since I danced. Poco-poco is the only dance that I know how to dance. Too bad I don't have dancing in my blood.

And of course, cam-whore was a must in this event.

The Sabahans.

Chen, Rawiey and Azie were in the same tutorial during matriculation
period. And as for me, Chen was my roomate and Azie was my teamate
during ICT4Me. I didn't even knew Rawiey during KML time. XD

Beach, Please!

Sabah BAHH!

After 3 days giving the students some motivational talk. Now, it's our turn to have some fun motivation. The four of us went for an island getaway. We bought a ticket to two islands namely Mamutik and Manukan. I paid MYR28 while the others paid extra MYR15 because they wanted to snorkel.

Before off to the first island which was Mamutik, we need to pay a tax cost MYR3.80.
Then, we can enjoy the sun.
Woohoo~~

Just me otw to Mamutik island
South China Sea
In a fast moving speedboat.
Splash.
This fish looks weird.

We arrived at Mamutik Island 15 minutes later. Before entering the island, we need to pay MYR3 each for the island tax.
The boys get changed and I didn't. Dafuq! I went to the island at the wrong time. The boys were snorkeling and as for me, I was mesmerizing by the beauty of the scenery. No time to waste. DSLR came to the rescue and killed my boredom.

IDK what the heck is this.

The gedik boys.

Playing with the sand.
Tinggi-tinggi
We were enjoying our time there for almost 2 hours. At 12PM, we need to go to the jetty and off to another island. Manukan Island until 4PM. I can live with that.
Just another short trip by using the speedboat, then we could enjoy more memento in Manukan Island. Before entering the island, the guest needs to pay another MYR3. But then, if you guys already paid the tax from the previous island, we can enter the next island like a boss. No need to pay a buck.

Like a boss!

There were lotsa sexayy pinoy playing volleyball by the beach. And the boys were being boys. Dapat cuci mata la katakan. And as for me, I was hunting for foods. Damn hungry dude! The price for the food was effing expensive (regarding that I'm a student). Who care about the price if we need to cater our dear stomach.
(Actually, the price food in Tioman was more expensive than in Manukan Island)

snooze time!

After ate our lunch, we rest by the beach side. The boys, sempat tido jap. Whereas, I sat on the sand under the tree, took a book from my bag and read it. Boring stuff to do by the seashore while you can have lotsa fun. And again, why did I having my P-day on the island trip... :(

My duty was not only to take tonnes of
photos but to take care of their
belongings too. Grr...
The view from Manukan Island.

At 4PM, need to go back to the mainland.
Harapkan org yg amek gambar nih tere dgn DSLR dier lagi power dari i,
tp outcome dier hampeh. Photo after being edited.

At 4PM, as signed in the contract with the Green Holiday, we need to get our asses off the island. Whole day in two islands has made my day. This can only be mean that I can cancelled my trip to Pangkor Island before the next sem starts.
It was a rough journey back to the mainland. Menongkah arus. It was a windy day and you know right what happened to the sea water during windy day. The waves were getting rough on us and in my mind, I only think...

MUST PROTECT MY CAMERA FROM THE WAVES.

Arrived at Jesselton Point safe and sound with some sea water wetting my t-shirt.
T-shirt basah xpa, asal bukan kamera.
We took some photos there and wondering where to go next.

Busy mereka mengalahkan MPM. Err...
Me without the phone.
Me and the gedik boys

Finally, we made a decision to go to took some photo at Suria Sabah and went to the food stall near the Philippine Market aka Pasar Filipina.

Look at the size of that lobster...
Before we set off to SMAKK, we walked to the night market and did a little window shopping. Haris did a lot of shopping and I was his adviser in buying stuffs for his gf.

At the night market.

After window shopping, we hang around outside Centerpoint and did a lot of cursing back then. The details, only the four of us knew the real stories. Lazy to post it in here and in any other social network sbb boleh buat sakit hati. GRR...

*

We waited for Saleh's brother to fetch us and then he sponsored us supper at Yoyo Cafe.
If in Peninsular Malaysia, CoolBlog is very famous chain store. Whereas, in Sabah or Sarawak, there are no CoolBlog. In Sabah, Yoyo is very famous and it's delish too. It offers  toast and it was also a great place to hang out. Dah macam Starbucks pun ada

My first encounter of the latest 50cent coin.

Giving a Small Talk

Sabah BAHH!

With Izyan
This is the second part of my adventurous trip to Sabah. From Monday til Wednesday, we were supposed to give a motivational talk at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (Agama) Kota Kinabalu or SMAKK for short. Our targeted audiences were form 5 students.
It was Monday and a working day. Before off to SMAKK, we had our breakfast at Izyan's place and bid her goodbye. Thankyou for your hospitality. If you wanna come to Sibu, don't forget to call me. hehe

After that, we went to Centerpoint and did some shopping for the program. And as for me, I did a little bit of shopping too. Bought myself a hairclip, a slipper and cut my fringe. Damn that sale tag. That slipper was 60% off and it was so cute.

Our talk started on 9PM. From the warden's house, me, Imah and Shasha walked towards the assembly hall and saw a few students there. The first session was quite bored. I could see it in their eyes. For the whole program, I'd been a photographer. Took lotsa photos of them and a little of me. Nothing much happened on the first day. Just a talk given by Saleh, Haris and Shasha and an activity for the students.

Haris, saying his prayer to Allah.

Let's moved on the next day. Did nothing in the morning. Just slept all day long. In the evening, we did some recreational activities. At first, only a few were coming because they too had their own stuffs to be done. Then, a few minutes later, more were coming. We started the activities and most of the activities were based on balloons.

warmed up.

I really like this photo. Just the perfect timing.
Them.
Freestyle.

For the night session, it was my turn to give a talk. Quite nervous though. It was my first time giving a talk to a crowd. I was appointed to tell them about UTM. It was just like promoting UTM. I did my research and my almost-an-hour talk was a success (that includes the Q&A session).

Just me giving a talk.

After my slot, the students need to form a group of 6 or 7 for a few activities. The first activity was called Tinggi-Tinggi. In this activity, the students need to make a tall so-called building by using stuffs their owned.

The winner was Group 6. The group leader was in a Peach shirt.

The second activity was Lu Pikir Lah Sendiri. In this game, each group need to build a building by using just newspapers. When Ednie dropped an egg on that building, the egg will not cracked and the group's building will be a success.

Ednie dropping the bomb...
And it's alright.

And again, the winning group was Group 6 even though all the groups were succeeded in not cracking the eggs. Group 6 won because of their unique architecture. :D

Before the night ended, one of the student asked me about the camera thing-y. And I answered him like a boss even though my knowledge about DSLR was little compare to the professional out there. While explaining him about the DSLR, one of the kiddo asked to take photo with me. I just said yeah and then, in within a second,

boys over flower. haha

Then we had our supper at the food hall. The caterer served us cereal and fresh milk.
Yummy.

*******

On the last night, a closing ceremony was held. But before that, upon as requested by the students, we did another slot on activity. We thought and did some random activities and in the end, the students loved it.

After an hour of activity slot, we did the closing ceremony and finished at 10.30PM.

Shasha, Imah and me

It was a tiring days and need some rest for tomorrow adventures. XD

Thanks to the other fasi for making this program a success.
We were Saleh, Haris, Ednie, Pudin, Ima, Shasha and Me.

:D
