NETCARBON

What?!! Tomorrow have a trip to Selangor!!” That was my first reaction. I didn’t even know about the trip. I’m going to miss another Suksis meeting. Well, what to do, the trip was under FYE and it means that compulsory for the first year students of FSKSM.  Damn! I guess I already missed the meeting for 3 weeks in a row already. Last Wednesday (13th  October), Suksis had a dinner and I missed it even though I already paid for it. This is what they call human planned but only God can make it happen. I saw their photos and I got really jealous. They were having so much fun and I was stuck in Batu Pahat for a tournament. Now, back to the trip, they all said that we were going to Cyberjaya. Never been to Cyberjaya before so, I was looking forward to it.
On the trip day, that was on a very unique date (20.10.2010), all the first year students waited at CICT and took their attendance. Each course got into their respective bus and departed on 0834 hours. All the buses stopped at this R&R and took 5. Fai and I were having roti canai for breakfast and it cost me MYR3.50. Very expensive though. Maybe it was because I ate the canai with lamb curry. YUMMY!!! Who cares about the price when you had a chance to eat your favourite food. For God sake, it’s LAMB and it’s been a long time since I ate one. Then, we all slept the whole journey to Bangi. At first, I thought we stopped because we were having a lunch there but I was wrong. Bangi was 1SCV destination. So much for a trip to Cyberjaya!
NETCARBON. That was stated at the company. The story starts here. We all were very curious and started having a thought why here, why not at Cyberjaya? The answer was quite simple, that was because the company was an animation production company under MDEC and 1SCV is a graphic course. Thus, it really fit all the puzzles. Animation && Graphic. Get it?? However, I heard that the other 3 courses went to Cyberjaya, (for real??!!) and the other one went to Tunku Abdul Rahman road, Jalan TAR for short. Dang! Ngah’s office is just around the corner of Jalan TAR.
Now now now… Lemme introduce the world about NETCARBON. As I said before, it was an animation studio situated at Bandar Baru Bangi just above the Bangi Village Steamboat restaurant and the company is still fresh in Malaysia. The modal to start up this company is very expensive and it is costly because there are a lot of gizmos that need to buy. At first, they were getting tender from Malaysia Education Ministry which was doing the e-learning. This e-learning thingy was the CD-Rom that can be found at the book of the primary and secondary schools’ teachers which use to teach the students nationwide. Then, around May 2010, they were started producing SUPERTOTS. It the latest animation series which will be on the TV screen next June (2011). It just like Upin and Ipin but in version 2.0 which is way better because it’s an action tots (toddlers). They wanted to promote the series in several foreign countries. Good for them!
There were a lot of INFO and FUN during the trip. Mr. Daniel asked for a volunteer and in unison we called out loud Bazli’s name. For less than an hour, he became an actor. He were being asked to do some pose and action and at the same time, it was entertainment for all of us. LOL MOMENTO!! Next, we saw how they did the animation stuff in the studio. It’s in 3D. Bla bla bla… more on the explanation about it… yada yada… and let’s move down to first floor where all the HARD work starts. From my eye view, each one of them has 2 computers for them to complete their given task. Some do the sound effects, the other design the background and more. They know what to do. We all just watch and learn. It is really one tiring work. For 11 minutes episodes, roughly they took more or less than 2 weeks to finish it. Wow!! 11 min for 2 weeks. Talk about the time frame. We ALL took a LOTSA photos. It was always a cam-whoring time. What made us very proud was 1SCV was the first group of people to watch the SUPERTOTS. My POV, it was really nice series for a small budget projects and the graphic was good too! What dya expect? Like the Toy Story movie. This ain’t PIXAR!

Time for lunch! I knew this was just a waste of time to talk about it but I really wanna talk about it because the food was really DELISH!! The 6 of us ate at Kayu Manis Restaurant. The first time I set my foot inside it, I had a feeling that I heard about this restaurant somewhere. I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken Rice. ALL the food are AWESOME and wanna know who’s the chef, it’s the member of the Fabulous Cat. That was why the place looks so familiar.

We went back to the company and did the Q&A session. At 1600 hours, we departed from Bangi. It was still early. How I wish we all can go to the nearest mall or KL. We arrived in UTM at 1930 hours. It was ONE tiring, jet lagging day!!
